BET YOUR ‘BALM’ DOLLAR
Balms really are the bomb!
Happy Friday lovelies, with the winter season getting colder, it may be time to start thinking about making sure you’re protected well enough, as the cold weather can leave your skin feeling dry and sensitive. During this time, you may be thinking of getting a moisturiser to help bring back the moisture to your skin, but what if I told you, balms are substantially more capable of offering protection to the skin during this trying time. Let me explain.
The main differences between a moisturiser and balm is pretty simple. Typically a moisturiser is a cream that is normally lighter in its consistency than a balm. The lightweight nature of a moisturiser is due to the formula containing a high percentage of water, which is used to help hydrate the uppermost layers of the skin. While this may be good for people who have normal or slightly sensitive skin, it’s nowhere near the effectiveness of using a balm, as it doesn’t provide enough protection to the skin.
To solve this, balms were introduced. Face balms are made with oils that help to give more intense moisture than a moisturiser (surprising, I know!) Unlike moisturisers, balms are produced without water, which actually provides more benefits to the skin, as products that use water in their products can actually dehydrate the skin (what’s happened? Is this opposite day?!) By removing the water and replacing it with more natural oils, it provides a more beautiful & glowy look, perfect for people who deal with conditions like sensitive skin or eczema. Balms help to create a more robust and proficient protective layer to the skin that moisturisers can’t efficiently give, making it the perfect final step in your skincare regime.
We’ve created our balms with a unique, patent-pending base - K6-PhytoCeramide Complex. Now that may be a mouthful to pronounce, it’s quite easy to get a grasp of what it’s all about. K6 is the basis for all our balms, its non-greasy components ensures your skin will feel silky and soft by slowly sinking it into your skin (which is something even other balms don’t do).
In order to formulate the base, we use the components of 6 different ingredients: Mango Butter, Shea Butter (Lipex), Kakadu Plum Oil, Borneo Tallow Nut, Phytowax, Cetiol Sensoft
Each one of these ingredients is essential to providing only the highest properties so that you can get the most out of your skin regime.
Mango Butter, for example is an extremely moisturising ingredient due to its abundance of Vitamin E and C which can help to protect your skin from the harsh climates and stressors like sunlight and pollution, which if left alone, could cause damage to the skin and premature aging.
Shea Butter, much like Mango Butter can help to moisturise the skin and soothe problems with its anti-inflammatory properties, it’s also capable of healing cuts and wounds due to its scar-healing properties and its rich fatty-acid levels.
Cetiol Sensoft, also known as the ‘happy emollient’ is an ingredient that is considered a super hydrate ingredient by improving the barrier to the skin so it’s able to better resist the loss of moisture in the skin.
These are just some of the incredible ingredients that we’ve got stashed away in the DEWCY vault that we use in all of our balms, and if any of you guys reading this like the sound of what I’ve been putting down, you can head on over to the shop and make the most of our Black Friday/Birthday discount code, which is BDAY20 to get 20% off everything on the website. Catch you guys next week, Ciao
