‘BREAKING A SWEAT’

It’s been just over two weeks since the end of London fashion week, and I must say, it left a lot of impressions. Not just from what London’s best designers brought to the table, but how the fashion world put an effort on supporting healthy, glowing skin.

From skin-boosting multi-masking massages that leave the skin feeling luminous and blushers used on the cheeks, lips and eyes to help get the skin a signature glow, London Fashion Week made sure that healthy skin was at the forefront of all the models who attended. And with many of the makeup artists who made their name present at this year’s event, two words were on their minds when it came to how they wanted to skin to be like. This in question being Laminated skin.

Laminated skin, coined by MAC’s director of makeup artistry and lead makeup artist, Terry Barber, made its appearance down many of the runways throughout the Fashion East Show. According to Barber “The skin for the season is sweaty. All the designers I’m working with are talking about sweaty skin, like you’ve just come out of the ocean on holiday, or been on a dance floor — or you’ve just had sex.” To grab this laminated look, he advocated using a highly moisturised base and layer it with a smidge of foundation, and finish it off with a touch of a hydrating setting spray. Barber also made sure to warn against using any kind of frosted powders if you want this look. And the best part about all of this, it doesn’t matter what type of skin you have, if you’ve got oily skin, acne-prone skin or if you even deal with any kind of sensitive skin, the glossy laminated skin appearance caters to all looks.

If you’re looking to emulate this dewy (or dare I say “Dewcy”) look, have I got some good news for you. We recently released our new & ‘DONUT DOUBT YOURSELF’; Glazed Skin Kit, which gives your skin the baby-soft beautifully glazed look that could be found on many of the models walking down this year’s catwalk, minus the calories of course.
