THE GAME CHANGING 5 MIN PARTY-PREP YOU NEED TO TRY
Hey lovelies, can you believe it, only 4 more sleeps until Father Christmas comes down our chimney’s and gives us everything we want this year (I seriously could not be more excited!). And with Christmas comes Christmas parties. The singing, the dancing, the drinking, it all comes together to make Christmas the most magical part of the year. But before you head out to your Christmas parties, you need to make sure you’re prepped. And one of the best ways to give your skin that ‘glowy, dewy’ look is a Dermaplaning facial.
According to Dr. Brendan Camp, M.D., a New York based Board-Certified dermatologist, Dermaplaning helps to make the skin smoother, softer, and brighter, helping to reveal healthy skin beneath dead skin cell layers. It can also help improve the penetration of skincare products.
So what exactly is Dermaplaning, for those of you who are unaware? Well, Dermaplaning is a manual exfoliation treatment for your skin. It involves using a special protective blade (home dermaplaning) in order to take off dead skin on the uppermost layers of the face, as well as doing a good job of taking off the peach fuzz, leaving you with smooth and glowy complexion.
Dermaplaning, traditionally, is carried out by a professional, with a sharper blade which allows for a deeper exfoliation and removal of more layers of dead skin. This can be an amazing pre-party treat but the treatment can be costly. With complete transparency as always, we are honest about the fact that you may not achieve the same results with a at home Dermaplaning kit (as it’s not as deep an exfoliation treatment.) However, being able to do it more regularly and in the comfort of your own home and a considerable difference in cost, does mean you can do this incredible, no downtime facial, right before a party.
Home Dermaplaning does have its benefits, especially our own 'THERE SHE GLOWS' Facial Dermaplaner. For one, much like with professional Dermaplaning, it provides all you guys out there with more than just a face free of peach fuzz, it also helps with exfoliation, giving you a cleaner and perkier complexion. And with our Dermaplaning kits in particular, they can be used more often and judging by the reviews previous customers have given, the quality of the blades are the best on the market.
We would be remised though to point out that because Dermaplaning is essentially an exfoliator, it follows the same aftercare as any other exfoliation treatment, as you need to make sure that when you Dermaplane, you use additional moisturiser for the next few days afterwards. And especially with the cold weather right now, Dermaplaning can leave your skin potentially more sensitive to the weather, so lather on some SPF and you’re good to go. We also recommend using our Dermaplaners either monthly, fortnight or weekly, (depending on personal preference, of course.) However, we don’t recommend Dermaplaning more than once a week, as it is a physical exfoliant.
But, before we wrap things up for the day, we need to point out that there is a misconception regarding Dermaplaning that I want to talk about, a lot of people think that dermaplaning will cause your facial hair to grow back thicker and darker. This is wholeheartedly NOT true. According to Dr. Piliang M.D., even though your hair may feel coarser, it’s just temporary. When we cut off the initial strands of hair that grow narrow and tapers off the end, the hair can feel thicker and coarser, but that’s because you’ve removed the softer part of the hair, it’s like getting a haircut really. So basically guys, there’s no cause for alarm thinking your hair will come back thicker after Dermaplaning. Hair only ever changes its thickness, colour etc when hormones, health, age come into play. Hair removal of any kind does NOT cause changes in the hair follicles or the structure of the hair so be assured dermaplaning will not alter your hair re-growth in any way - FACT!!!
Ciao lovelies and I’ll see you all next week
Alex xoxo
