NEW YEAR, SAME INCREDIBLE ME!
It’s 2023! Can you believe it? And we are almost a week in! It is at this time of year, that we are bombarded with new regimes, and the pressure to shed last years’ skin and be the best we can possibly be. As inspiring and uplifting as all of that is, it is also important to remember everything you have achieved, and that there is no need to change who you already are.
A new year often means a new start and even I can’t deny how refreshing new beginnings can be. But instead of taking the new year to reinvent yourself why don’t you use that time to focus on creating goals and ambitions that aren’t just for January. Ask yourself, what positive habits will I take into 2023? What did I learn about myself in 2022? What have I accomplished? and What is next for me? This way, we encourage a positive mental shift and instead of feeling the pressure to be a new version of yourself, you manifest good things for the year ahead. Here at Dewcy, we have so many incredible things in store and are so excited for what is to come, (head to our Instagram to keep in the loop *wink*).
Setting achievable goals doesn’t have to be things for the bucket list. Setting attainable goals is the first step in keeping enough motivation to complete them. This is often why new year’s resolutions are given up on. Goals can be taking more time out of your week for yourself. Taking the time to practise self-care, in the form of running a bubble bath, an overnight hair mask, listening to music, painting your toenails, or simply reading a book. Do you already have goals in mind?
I took the plunge this week, by cutting my long hair short and choosing to donate it to a charity, who create wigs for young girls who have lost their hair through cancer treatments. And although in theory, this means I have shed a little part of me, I am trying to focus this year, on embracing the rest of me, ‘flaws’ and all.
So essentially, take this blog post as a reminder that the new year doesn’t consider that sometimes the first of January isn’t great, nor is the second, or maybe the third. If you feel that this week hasn’t been how you’d hoped, remember that you are not alone in feeling that way. The pressure can be overwhelming. Each new year, each new week, and each new day is an opportunity for a new beginning. What will you do with yours?
Take care lovelies! xoxo
